When language fails, movement speaks
stage director Rocc
choreographers Natalia Adamska, Rei Masatomi, and others
What happens when people lose a common language? The biblical story of Babylon tells of how different languages led to the division of society. Babylon Ballet by NDM Ballet tells a different story: one of connection. Four dancers – four stories, temperaments, languages, and cultures – search through dance for a new way to understand each other and themselves. Their bodies become instruments, music their interpreter, and movement the universal language we all understand.
Babylon Ballet is an original dance-theatre project driven by four dancers of the NDM Ballet, directed and designed by Rocc, and tailor-made for the unique, intimate space of Ostrava’s Theatre “12.” In this close setting, the performance offers a vivid, emotionally rich, and deeply personal experience. Fluidly shifting between the concrete and the abstract, the choreography weaves a colourful mosaic of human communication — in a world where even chaos has its order, if we allow it to speak through dance.
A production by NDM Ballet. Premiere on 20.06.2026 at the Theatre "12", Ostrava, Czech Republic.
