When language fails, movement speaks

What happens when people lose a common language? The biblical story of Babylon tells of how different languages led to the division of society. In Babylon Ballet by NDM Ballet, something new begins to emerge instead: through dance, four performers search for a way to understand one another and themselves. Babylon Ballet is an original dance-theatre project developed by dancers of the Ostrava ballet ensemble in collaboration with Slovenian director Rocc, and created specifically for the intimate space of Ostrava’s Theatre “12”. It is precisely this close connection with the venue that gives the production its immediacy, emotional richness, and striking sense of intimacy. Set to the music of Erik Satie, the production unfolds in a series of dance images that move freely between the explicable and the elusive, creating a vivid mosaic of complex human communication in a world where even chaos can give rise to a new order and a sense of harmony.
A production by NDM Ballet. Premiere on 20.06.2026 at the Theatre "12", Ostrava, Czech Republic.
