From Classical Virtuosity to Contemporary Expression
The evening brings together three distinct choreographic voices, each offering a different view of the body and its expressive possibilities across time and dance styles. It opens with a neoclassical work by Jacopo Godani, a choreographer celebrated for his bold and innovative approach. Created especially for our ballet company, his new piece promises a performance of striking visual power and emotional intensity. The focus then shifts to contemporary dance in Marco Goecke’s Suite Suite Suite and Thin Skin, where the body becomes a space for emotion, tension, and vulnerability.
In Suite Suite Suite, set to Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 4, movement is shaped by precision, discipline, and an almost relentless physical alertness. Thin Skin, set to songs by Patti Smith, moves in the opposite direction, opening up a more intimate and fragile world. Here, the body appears exposed, sensitive, and deeply affected by both emotional and physical intensity. Together, the three works create a compelling arc from formal clarity and control to an unguarded, deeply human vulnerability.
A production by NDM Ballet. Premiere on 22.04.2027 at the Jiří Myron Theatre, Ostrava, Czech Republic.
